Bali. From these opinions may not be much to look at Subak as one of the most beautiful thing in Bali, because Subak basically just a traditional irrigation system. But make no mistake, this is different because Subak traditional irrigation systems in many other areas in the archipelago.

Subak was not just a system that take care of technical matters. More than that, Subak also serves as a social organization in the field of agriculture that touches the side of social and religious. A Subak led by an indigenous leader who called Kelian. Subak leader is voluntary, in other words, someone who became Kelian, will not receive any salary or compensation for his services. Subak also have a clear membership, and is usually divided into two groups, active and passive. Distribution of water from shared water sources also are based on contributions from its members. In addition, the most important requirement is the establishment of a Subak one or more temples Uluncarik or Bedugul. This temple serves as a place of worship to the Goddess as a manifestation of Sang Hyang Sri Widhi Wasa in terms of fertility and prosperity. Terms which is the evidence that Subak was taking care of the religious aspect of the farmers. Subak presence actually played a part in beautifying the face of the lovely and enchanting Bali. Countless beautiful terraces terracing-born of non-profit organization called Subak. Terraces, terracing in Tegalallang, Jatiluwih, Bebandem, and Busungbiu are some "natural child" Subak which are well known internationally.

But unfortunately, the development of a more modern era, it brings a tough challenge for Subak. Agricultural land is increasingly cramped due to development everywhere, modern irrigation system that turned out to be one of the factors of destruction of land and less interest the younger generation to become farmers are some of the many challenges that must be faced. Of course, Bali has prepared various plans to keep conserving Subak, because with the extinction of Subak, Bali will certainly lose one important asset, identity and beauty
